Based out of New Delhi/India and Madison/Wisconsin/US, Amarrass Records is a multifaceted independent record label, artist management company, event production and music promotions company. We are committed to the production of quality music in a sustainable way. Built on a shared vision, passion, and love for music, and guided by the principles of fair trade, Amarrass strives to create an environment that encourages and nourishes the creative spirit of musicians and music lovers. We also work with artisans to revive the traditional art of instrument making. With a major annual festival (The Amarrass Music Festival, since 2011), and eleven albums released, the label and artists we represent, have featured prominently in international and national media including The New York Times, NPR, Rolling Stone India, BBC Radio, Songlines Magazine, fROOTS, and more.

Amarrass is led by co-founders Ankur and Ashutosh, long-time friends who started the label in late 2009, with their first release in November 2010.

ANKUR MALHOTRA
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR

Ankur works out of Madison, Wisconsin and New Delhi, India and manages various aspects of the label business including artist management, international bookings and tours, production, marketing and sales, and technology. A mechanical engineering and MBA with over 15 years of experience in IT, education, media and new venture development. Ankur also runs Madison Music Review, and is a producer of music festivals in Madison such as Musique Electronique, Willy Street Beats (both in their 9th year of production). He is also a DJ and music producer with the moniker DJ Spincycle. He DJ's on the weekly Friday Buzz on WORT 89.9FM (where he also co-hosts the Pan Africa Radio Show program), where he was a former Board Member, and has been a music advisor to the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA), Music Jury Member and invited speaker at WOMEX 13 and the Peabody Essex Museum. He previously served on the Board of the Madison Area Music Association. In addition he served on the jury of the Russian World Music Awards (RWMA), and has been an invited speaker toe the CIAM Congress in Mexico City (International Content Creators Association).
An ardent vinyl collector and a lover of the analog sound (read vacuum tubes), Ankur is a prolific photographer, spending a fair amount of time behind the camera lens and in front of stages across the world (see www.aneyeful.com)!

ASHUTOSH SHARMA
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR

Ashutosh is based out of New Delhi, India and manages domestic (India) artist tours, production, ASPA/instruments and events. He manages Sadhana Travels, a venture he started in 1994 at age 19. Sadhana Travels is a boutique travel and tour operator that caters to the discerning traveller, provides custom tours, and travel bookings.
